Baseball Recap: Oberlin Phoenix vs. Columbia Raiders
Oberlin had lost five straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 2-8 to make it six. They lost 19-0 to the Columbia Raiders. The Phoenix were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Raiders earlier this season, when they won 8-4.
As for Columbia, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
For Columbia's part, Logan Menge made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over 4.2 innings pitched. Menge has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.
