Baseball Game Preview: Germantown Warhawks vs. Wauwatosa West Trojans

Germantown is 9-1 against Wauwatosa West since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Warhawks will venture away from home to square off against the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. Germantown's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so Wauwatosa West's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Germantown took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They walked away with a 3-0 victory over Wisconsin Lutheran.

Germantown got a great performance from Evan Lauer as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over 6.2 innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave Lauer a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Germantown's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Lucas Frank, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave Frank a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Wauwatosa West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Shorewood, falling 7-1.

Germantown pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Wauwatosa West, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.

Germantown's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's game. The Warhawks have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game.
