Recap: Alta Hawks vs. Juan Diego Catholic Soaring Eagle
The Alta Hawks had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.2 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They breezed by Juan Diego Catholic at home to the tune of 69-20. Alta's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Fuifuilupe Niumeitolu was her usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with seven steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Alta's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aolele Liavaa, who scored 12 points along with seven steals.
Alta's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Juan Diego Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alta will take on Pleasant Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Pleasant Grove is ranked 31st, while Alta is ranked 41st). As for Juan Diego Catholic, they will head out on the road to face off against Spanish Fork at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Spanish Fork has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
