Softball Recap: Boonton Bombers vs. Caldwell Chiefs
Boonton had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 3-12 to make it four. They came up short against the Caldwell Chiefs, falling 12-1. The Bombers were not able to make up for their loss to the Chiefs from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
As for Caldwell, they moved to 4-8-1 with that victory, which also ended their six-game losing streak. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
For Caldwell's part, the team relied heavily on Lylah Ulrich, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI. Those three doubles gave Ulrich a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Rodriguez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Coming up, Boonton will be playing at home against Saddle Brook at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Caldwell, they will square off against West Essex at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
