Softball Game Preview: Gibson County Pioneers vs. Milan Bulldogs

Gibson County hasn't had much luck against Milan recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Pioneers will venture away from home to challenge the Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. The last three games Gibson County has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Tuesday, Gibson County didn't have quite enough to beat Westview and fell 4-2.

Gibson County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrea Criswell, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Milan ultimately got the result they hoped for last Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Ripley.

Camryn Green spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

Milan's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Gibson County, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Gibson County came up short against Milan in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, falling 5-2. Can the Pioneers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
