Basketball Game Preview: Bluffton Tigers vs. Southwood Knights

Bluffton and Southwood are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The Bluffton Tigers will head out to take on the Southwood Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bluffton has nine straight victories, Southwood has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Bluffton is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Woodlan: they outscored them in every quarter. Bluffton was the clear victor by a 66-43 margin over Woodlan on Friday. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Bluffton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Konley Ault, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine boards. The game was Ault's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Isabella Stout was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Meanwhile, it was a classic North v. South duel when Southwood duked it out withNorthfield on Friday. Southwood lost to Northfield on the road by a 48-34 margin.

Bluffton pushed their record up to 11-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.6 points per game. As for Southwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Everything came up roses for Bluffton against Southwood in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 61-16 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bluffton since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
