Basketball Recap: Callaway Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Victory

Callaway had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.8 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They snuck past the Neshoba Central Rockets with a 57-51 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 63-45 on January 13th.

Callaway was led to victory by Jahanna Wilson and Megann Wallace. Wilson posted 19 points in addition to seven steals and five assists, while Wallace dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards. Wilson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 20 games she's played. Jernae Ringgold was another key player, putting up ten points and five rebounds.

Neshoba Central lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Shastyn Lewis, who earned 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jiar Henry, who scored 11 points along with five boards and three steals.

Callaway pushed their record up to 22-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.2 points per game. As for Neshoba Central, their loss ended a 22-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-13.

Callaway and Neshoba Central should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings. Callaway (ranked 12th) will meet Forest Hill (ranked 142nd) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Callaway is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.9 points per game this season. Similarly, Neshoba Central will challenge Warren Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday up 180 places (31 vs. 211).
