Foothill skates past West Valley with ease

Recap: Foothill Cougars vs. West Valley Eagles

The Foothill Cougars can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent contest on Saturday. They really took it to West Valley for the full four quarters, racking up a 53-0 win at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Foothill has managed all season.

Foothill was led to victory by Cade Memeo and Tyler Zanhiser. Memeo scored 12 points along with six steals, while Zanhiser scored 19 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Caleb Belair was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.

West Valley's loss came despite strong showings from Jordan Heacock and Chase Kalnins. Heacock scored 19 points along with six steals and five rebounds, while Kalnins scored 25 points along with two steals. Kalnins has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Blaze Collins, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, West Valley struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Foothill pushed their record up to 12-7 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points per game. As for West Valley, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-10.

Foothill will head out on the road to square off against Chico at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chico has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for West Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against University Prep at 7:30 p.m.
