Basketball Recap: Battery Creek Takes a Loss

Battery Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 49-28 to the Beaufort Eagles. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dolphins this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 37-32 last Tuesday.

Beaufort found their leader in freshman Jania Hayward, who posted 16 points and eight steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hayward has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Zaria Coaxum, who earned eight points and five steals.

Battery Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Beaufort, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-5.

Battery Creek wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 42-37 loss against Colleton County on the 16th. As for Beaufort, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 69-41 win against Cross on the 16th.
