Recap: McKinley Tech Trainers vs. DC International Dragons
On Friday, the McKinley Tech Trainers faced the DC International Dragons in a battle between two of the state's top teams. McKinley Tech ended up on the wrong side of a rough 59-34 walloping at the hands of DC International. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat McKinley Tech has suffered since December 1, 2023.
Several Trainers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Leria Amah, who scored six points along with five rebounds and two steals. Chiagoziem Njoku was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 11 rebounds.
DC International's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kai Davis, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Davis has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Camille Larsen-Humphreys, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
McKinley Tech has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. As for DC International, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-8.
McKinley Tech will be playing at home against School Without Walls at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. School Without Walls is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for DC International, DC International and Model Secondary School for the Deaf will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Model Secondary School for the Deaf is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home.
