Soccer Game Preview: Point Arena vs. Anderson Valley

The Point Arena Pirates will head out to take on the Anderson Valley Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Point Arena will be strutting in after a win while Anderson Valley will be coming in after a loss.

Point Arena was handed a three-goal defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They skirted past Roseland Collegiate Prep 2-1. The victory continues a trend for Point Arena in their matchups with Roseland Collegiate Prep: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Anderson Valley came up short against Sonoma Academy on Thursday and fell 3-1. While losing is never fun, Anderson Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 79th, while Sonoma Academy are ranked eighth).

Point Arena's win bumped their record up to 10-8-2. As for Anderson Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-14-1.

Everything went Point Arena's way against Anderson Valley when the teams last played on October 3rd, as Point Arena made off with a 4-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
