Baseball Game Preview: Litchfield Purple Panthers vs. Lebanon Greyhounds

The Litchfield Purple Panthers will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Lebanon Greyhounds at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither Litchfield nor Lebanon posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Litchfield is coming home looking for redemption after taking a loss in their road opener. They fell 5-2 to PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central on Monday.

Max Leitschuh was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Leitschuh was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

Leitschuh wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Max Gretjak, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Lebanon came up short against Carlyle on Monday, falling 16-1. The Greyhounds have struggled against the Indians/Lady Indians recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meetings.

Everything went Litchfield's way against Lebanon in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Litchfield made off with a 7-0 win. Will Litchfield repeat their success, or does Lebanon have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
