Baseball Game Preview: Manchester Lancers vs. Cosby Titans

The Manchester Lancers will head out on the road to face off against the Cosby Titans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Manchester will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Last Thursday, Manchester was able to grind out a solid victory over Monacan, taking the game 9-4.

Noah Lourinia looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Asher Blalock was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tyson Penepacker, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Cosby had taken Midlothian down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. The Titans came up short against the Trojans, falling 14-1. The loss was the Titans' first of the season.

Manchester's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Cosby, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1-1.

Manchester skirted past Cosby 2-1 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lancers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
