Basketball Recap: Big Pine Warriors vs. Lone Pine Golden Eagles
The Big Pine Warriors lost against the Lone Pine Golden Eagles two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Big Pine ended up on the wrong side of a tough 71-45 walloping at the hands of the Golden Eagles. Big Pine has struggled against the Golden Eagles recently, as their contest on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Big Pine saw an underclassman step up: Noah Ericson scored 18 points. Wil Mairs was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Lone Pine was led to victory by Ralph Enriquez and Alfonso Castro. Enriquez dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds, while Castro scored eight points along with ten assists and five steals. Castro is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cristian Duran, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Big Pine's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Lone Pine, the win (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 14-3.
Big Pine will head out on the road to face off against the Braves at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Lone Pine, they will be playing at home against the Cubs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Owens Valley comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
