Basketball Recap: Brother Rice Crusaders vs. Thornwood Thunderbirds

Brother Rice had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took an 80-75 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Thornwood Thunderbirds on Monday. The Crusaders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Thunderbirds apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

Thornwood got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lester Watson out in front who shot 57% from the field to rack up 33 points and three steals. Those 33 points gave Watson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Jones, who posted 23 points and eight boards.

Coming up, Brother Rice will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against De La Salle at 6:30 p.m. on December 2. As for Thornwood, they will be taking part in a tournament against Joliet West at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
