Football Game Preview: Caston Comets vs. Pioneer Panthers

Caston hasn't had much luck against Pioneer recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Comets will be playing at home against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Caston will bounce into Friday's game after beating Winamac, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Comets blew past the Warriors 35-13 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Comets, who have now won three contests by 22 points or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Pioneer entered their tilt with North Judson-San Pierre on Friday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They enjoyed a cozy 36-18 win over the Bluejays. The game was the first time the Panthers have beaten the Bluejays on their field since October 16, 2020.

Pioneer's win came from a few key players Caston will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Micah Rans, who rushed for 64 yards and three touchdowns. He is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Noah Vanmeter was another key player, rushing for 114 yards.

Pioneer was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 279 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Judson-San Pierre only rushed for 118.

Pioneer's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Caston, their win bumped their record up to 3-6.
