Basketball Game Preview: Barr-Reeve Vikings vs. Orleans Bulldogs

The Barr-Reeve Vikings are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on the Orleans Bulldogs at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Barr-Reeve came up short against Evansville Christian on Thursday, falling 59-35.

Barr-Reeve's defeat came about despite a quality game from Josie Knepp, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 13 rebounds. Shelby Dobson was another key player, putting up five points and seven boards.

Meanwhile, Orleans strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They took down Northeast Dubois 56-42. Surprisingly, this marked the Bulldogs' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Orleans' win came from a few key players Barr-Reeve will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Callie Alston, who shot 62% from the field on her way to 20 points and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Orleans' points. Another player making a difference was Caleigha Alston, who went 6-for-9 to rack up 14 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

Orleans' win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Barr-Reeve, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Barr-Reeve lost to Orleans on the road by a decisive 50-36 margin in their previous matchup back in February. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
