Basketball Recap: Emma Coronado and Matalie Floyd Secure Win for Kimball

Kimball won against Pitman on Tuesday with 54 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Wednesday. The Jaguars narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Las Lomas Knights 54-52. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Jaguars have posted since January 7th.

Leading Kimball to victory were Matalie Floyd and Emma Coronado. Floyd dropped a triple-double with 15 points, 18 boards, and 11 blocks, while Coronado shot 67% from beyond the arc on her way to 25 points and three steals. Thanks to that strong game, Coronado now owns an excellent 43.8% three-point shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Leianna Deperio, who posted 11 points.

The win made it two in a row for Kimball and bumps their season record up to 3-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points over those games. As for Las Lomas, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Kimball won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Franklin at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Las Lomas, they will square off against American at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
