Baseball Recap: Emmaus Starts Season with Victory Against Blue Mountain

Emmaus gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Blue Mountain Eagles. This was payback for the Hornets, who suffered a 7-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Cole Moreau made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Moreau was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Jaden Betz looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

Moreau wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Drayce Schmidt, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Coming up, Emmaus will be playing at home against Allentown Central Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. This will be Emmaus' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Blue Mountain, they are taking a road trip to face off against Northwestern Lehigh at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
