Jefferson hasn't had much luck against Rocky Mountain Lutheran recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Jefferson Saints will square off against the Rocky Mountain Lutheran Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Jefferson made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Denver West, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Jefferson blew past Denver West 18-1 on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Saints considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Demetrius Martinez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Martinez was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances.

In other batting news, AJ Alvarado was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Humberto Carao Garcia, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Jefferson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Denver West only posted an OBP of .297.
Meanwhile, Rocky Mountain Lutheran owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They came out on top against Clear Creek by a score of 4-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
Like Jefferson, Rocky Mountain Lutheran also got a great game from a two-way player: Blake Harris. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. Harris was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noah Lile, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI. Gavin Borchardt was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Rocky Mountain Lutheran now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Jefferson, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-1.
Jefferson came up short against Rocky Mountain Lutheran in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 9-4. Can Jefferson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
