Liberty skates past Pickens with ease

The Liberty Red Devils scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They blew past Pickens 97-58 at home. That 97-58 margin sets a new team best for Liberty this season.

Liberty's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kendrick Jackson led the charge by scoring 23 points along with six rebounds and five assists. The game was Jackson's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Dawson Owen, who scored 26 points along with three steals.

Pickens' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooks Dow, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. Those 13 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Doty, who scored 14 points.

Liberty's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.8 points per game. As for Pickens, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Liberty will take on Seneca in a holiday battle at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday at. Pickens will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on East Henderson at 7:00 p.m. on December 27th.
