Softball Recap: Winston County Gets the Win

Winston County won the last time they faced Phillips and things went their way on Friday too. The Yellowjackets walked away with a 12-8 victory over the Bears.

The team relied heavily on Ella Kennedy, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Maci Blevins, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.

Winston County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The win got Winston County back to even at 6-6. As for Phillips, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-13.

Winston County and Phillips will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Yellowjackets see the field they'll take on Brilliant at 4:30 p.m. on the 30th. As for Phillips, their break will end when they face Marion County at 4:30 p.m. on the 31st.
