The St. Andrew's Episcopal Saints will challenge the Puckett Wolves at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Andrew's Episcopal is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
On Saturday, St. Andrew's Episcopal made easy work of French Camp Academy and carried off a 13-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Saints in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won five in a row.
Stone Myrick was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Sargeant Moriarity, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Puckett fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Stringer on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Red Devils by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Wolves have suffered since March 27, 2024.
Eli Rankin was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, Wilkes Carter was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Tim Axton was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-4.
St. Andrew's Episcopal's win bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Puckett, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-3.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. St. Andrew's Episcopal has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .448. However, it's not like Puckett struggles in that department as they've averaged .451. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
St. Andrew's Episcopal took their victory against Puckett when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 12-0. Does St. Andrew's Episcopal have another victory up their sleeve, or will Puckett turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
