Football Game Preview: El Dorado Cougars vs. Union Mine Diamondbacks + Official Tickets

The El Dorado Cougars will take on the Union Mine Diamondbacks at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. El Dorado has given up an average of 30.6 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

El Dorado is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games on Friday. They came up short against Amador, falling 48-22.

El Dorado's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Hunter Rupley, who threw for 321 yards and three touchdowns, and Heath Morris, who picked up 112 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Morris was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 55 yards. El Dorado also got help from Logan Kruse, who showed off his sure hands for 80 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Union Mine). They claimed a resounding 60-20 win over Galt. The victory continues a trend for the Diamondbacks in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won eight in a row.

Union Mine's win bumped their record up to 2-7. As for El Dorado, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 2-7.

El Dorado was taken down by Union Mine 48-7 when the teams last played back in November of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
