Football Recap: Aiden Girard Leads Northwood's Defense on Friday + How To Watch

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Asheboro, Northwood was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They strolled past the Bartlett Yancey Buccaneers with points to spare, taking the game 36-18. Considering the Chargers' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Grayson Cox was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 156 yards and one touchdown while picking up 9.8 yards per carry, and also threw for 81 yards and one TD. Those 156 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Northwood didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Aiden Girard, Eli Minges, and Raje Torres picked up one apiece. Leo Mortimer was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making seven total tackles.

Northwood's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Bartlett Yancey, they now also have a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northwood will venture away from home to challenge Seaforth at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bartlett Yancey, they will head out to take on Cummings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
