Softball Game Preview: Castilleja Gators vs. Design Tech Dragons

The Castilleja Gators will head out to square off against the Design Tech Dragons at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Design Tech took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Castilleja, who comes in off a win.

While Gators fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Friday's season opener. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Harker 10-8. The win continues a trend for the Gators in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won six in a row.

Raina Kapadia made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Kapadia was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Katherine Cheng was incredible, scoring a run and stealing Four bases. while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Claire Pettit was another key player, going 1-for-5 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Design Tech came up short against South San Francisco on Friday, falling 17-2. The Dragons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Design Tech saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ella Lewis, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Castilleja suffered a grim 15-2 defeat to Design Tech when the teams last played back in March of 2022. Can Castilleja avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
