Football Game Preview: Holcomb Longhorns vs. Colby Eagles

Holcomb is 8-2 against Colby since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Longhorns will be playing at home against the Eagles. Holcomb is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Holcomb is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Southwestern Heights 55-14 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Longhorns, who have now won six matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.

Kenn Prieto had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 144 yards and three TDs while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. Those 144 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Evan Valencia was another key back, rushing for 106 yards and one score on only seven carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Holcomb was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 392 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southwestern Heights only rushed for 116.

Meanwhile, Colby played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Scott 48-16. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Beavers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Holcomb will have to contain Cody Wright as he made an impact in Colby's last game. He rushed for 109 yards on only 13 carries.

Colby didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kade Youngman and Wright.

Holcomb's win bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Colby, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Everything came up roses for Holcomb against Colby when the teams last played on October 3rd, as the team secured a 53-24 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Wright, who picked up 107 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 52 yards and one TD on only five carries. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Longhorns still be able to contain Wright? There's only one way to find out.
