Republic came into Saturday's matchup looking for another win against Northport, but Kate Beardslee wouldn't allow it. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 3-0 victory on Saturday for which the team can thank Beardslee, who had 12 kills, four blocks, and four aces. She has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 17 times she's played.
Northport never let Republic on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-13, 25-21.
Northport's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Liesel Stark, who had four digs and four blocks. Those four blocks gave Stark a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dalilah Colton, who had 20 assists.
Northport's record is now 14-5. As for Republic, their loss ended a nine-match streak of away wins and brought them to 17-5.
