The Eastland Mavericks will venture away from home to challenge the Early Longhorns at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Eastland will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
On Tuesday, Eastland made easy work of Tolar and carried off a 16-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Mavericks, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Ana Cunningham tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Jayci Majors was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Adyson Carroll was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.
Eastland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .520. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Early came up short against Peaster last Tuesday and fell 12-8. The defeat continues a trend for the Longhorns in their meetings with the Greyhounds: they've now lost four in a row.
Jamie Vassar was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Harper Thornberry, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
Eastland has been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Early, their loss dropped their record down to 13-7.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Eastland has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .439. However, it's not like Early struggles in that department as they've averaged .535. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Eastland's way against Early in their previous matchup back in March, as Eastland made off with a 12-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mavericks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
