Baseball Recap: Needles Mustangs vs. North Valley Christian Academy Lions
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Needles). Everything went their way against the North Valley Christian Academy Lions on Thursday as the Needles Mustangs made off with a 17-6 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mustangs also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.
Robert Tapia made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Tapia was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Five bases. while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Needles got a massive performance out of Gabe Rodriquez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Rodriquez is becoming a predictor of Needles' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 0-3-1 when he doesn't). Holden Jones was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4.
Needles always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Needles' win bumped their record up to 2-4-1. As for North Valley Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5-1.
