Basketball Recap: Cornerstone Prep Academy Takes a Loss

Cornerstone Prep Academy played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 72-52 to the Excel Christian Academy Eagles. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Cornerstone Prep Academy lost, don't look at Simeon Greene. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds. Greene has been hot recently, having posted nine or more boards the last three times he's played.

Excel Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Jamari Gatson, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Aston Chappell, who posted 11 points.

Cornerstone Prep Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cornerstone Prep Academy will look to takes advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they takes on Horizon Christian Academy at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Excel Christian Academy, they will welcome Trion at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
