Baseball Preview: Rock Island Rocks vs. Quincy Blue Devils

The Rock Island Rocks will square off against the Quincy Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

On Saturday, Rock Island came up short against Normal Community and fell 6-1. The Rocks haven't had much luck with the Ironmen recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, Quincy had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over Hannibal on Saturday.

Nick Brown tossed a big game, tossing 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits.

At the plate, Mason Dent and Drake Gibson did most of the damage at the plate: Dent went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI, while Gibson scored a run while going 2-for-5. The dominant performance also gave Gibson a new career-high in RBI (three). Cameron Lawson was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Quincy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hannibal only managed six hits.

Rock Island now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Quincy, their win bumped their record up to 3-10.
