Recap: Hueytown Golden Gophers vs. Oak Mountain Eagles
The Hueytown Golden Gophers pushed their score all the way to 63 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 71-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oak Mountain. Hueytown has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Hueytown's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braylon Patton, who scored 20 points. Patton scored a full 31.7% of Hueytown's points, the 12th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Derryck Patton was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
Hueytown's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Oak Mountain, their win bumped their record up to 7-8.
Hueytown will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Homewood at 6:00 p.m. on December 28th. Oak Mountain and Morristown-Hamblen East will round out the year against one another at 10:00 a.m. on December 28th at.
