Softball Recap: Karnes City's Losing Streak Snapped at Six Games

Karnes City came into Tuesday's match having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against the Nixon-Smiley Mustangs by a score of 15-11 on Tuesday. This was a revenge game for the Badgers: when they faced off against the Mustangs back in March, they had to take a 19-5 defeat.

Laila Garcia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and six unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 5-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI.

In other batting news, Mackenzie Clark was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-5. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Arabella Ybarra was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

Karnes City lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more home runs.

Karnes City's victory bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Nixon-Smiley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-12.

Karnes City does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Nixon-Smiley, they will challenge Stockdale at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
