Softball Game Preview: Northwood Falcons vs. North Webster Knights

The Northwood Falcons will head out to challenge the North Webster Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Webster took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Northwood, who comes in off a win.

Northwood will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Saturday, then bounced right back against Loyola College Prep on Monday. Northwood blew past Loyola College Prep 11-1. The victory continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Flyers: they've now won five in a row.

Devan Ashby made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over six innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in earned runs (zero). She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Mackenzie Jagers was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Stephanie Ramirez, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Northwood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Loyola College Prep only managed two hits.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for North Webster's offense. They came up short against Caddo Magnet on Friday, falling 13-0.

Northwood picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 4-7. As for North Webster, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Everything went Northwood's way against North Webster in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Northwood made off with an 8-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northwood since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
