Volleyball Recap: Fairhope Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from HC Miller and Paige Benson + How To Watch

Fairhope was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Gulf Shores Dolphins. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Dolphins apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Fairhope actually scored more points across those five sets (107-103), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-23, 15-25, 25-21, 15-13.

Fairhope's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Paige Benson, who had 13 digs and four aces, and HC Miller, who had 13 digs and two aces.

Gulf Shores was led to victory by Chastyn Covington and Callie Hopkins. Covington had 27 digs and four assists, while Hopkins had 16 digs. Covington has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last five times she's played.

Fairhope's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Gulf Shores, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-5.

Fairhope wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Spanish Fort on the 17th. As for Gulf Shores, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Baldwin County on the 18th.
