Softball Recap: Destin Gets the Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Destin walked away with it. They came out on top against the Freeport Bulldogs by a score of 5-1 on Monday. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 11-1 win on April 7th.

Aspen Benscoter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Angel Wilson, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Forrest, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Destin's win bumped their record up to 12-14. As for Freeport, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-13.

Destin has already played their next matchup, a 10-0 loss against North Bay Haven Academy on the 28th. Freeport does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
