Basketball Game Preview: Mission Valley Vikings vs. Cair Paravel Lions

The Mission Valley Vikings will head out to face off against the Cair Paravel Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Mission Valley beat Madison/Hamilton 46-40. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Mission Valley found their leader in sophomore Taylor Brammell, who posted 14 points. Brammell is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Adaline Bloomfield, who earned ten points and five steals.

Meanwhile, Cair Paravel came into Saturday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 43-32 win over Council Grove two weeks ago.

Cair Paravel's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-5. As for Mission Valley, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

Everything went Mission Valley's way against Cair Paravel in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as Mission Valley made off with a 46-21 victory. In that game, Mission Valley amassed a halftime lead of 33-8, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
