Softball Game Preview: Citizens Christian Academy Patriots vs. Terrell Academy Eagles

The Citizens Christian Academy Patriots will venture away from home to take on the Terrell Academy Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Citizens Christian Academy came out on top against Tiftarea Academy on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run sixth inning. The Patriots were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Panthers. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Patriots considering their one-run performance the game before.

Gracie Giddens made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Emma Gourley was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Abrah Harris, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Meanwhile, Terrell Academy came tearing into Thursday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Knights a 17-0 shutout.

Citizens Christian Academy's record now sits at 16-4. As for Terrell Academy, their record is now 15-5.

Everything went Citizens Christian Academy's way against Terrell Academy in their previous meeting back in August, as Citizens Christian Academy made off with an 8-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
