Basketball Game Preview: Cypress Lakes Spartans vs. Cypress Park Tigers

The Cypress Lakes Spartans will challenge the Cypress Park Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Cypress Lakes is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest defeat since January 30, 2024 on Friday. They came up short against Cypress Springs, falling 66-43. The loss continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cypress Park). They strolled past Waller with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 81-67. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 167th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 1175th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cypress Park pushed their record up to 14-9 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.6 points per game. As for Cypress Lakes, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-12.

Cypress Lakes strolled past Cypress Park in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a score of 64-50. Will Cypress Lakes repeat their success, or does Cypress Park have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
