Football Recap: Fernley's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak on the Road + How To Watch

Fernley and Churchill County squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Fernley had to settle for second. They took a 35-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Greenwave. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Greenwave this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 42-15 back in October.

A big part of Churchill County's victory came down to the chemistry between Matthew Bird and his top target Camden Richardson. Bird threw for 214 yards and a pair of TDs while Richardson rushed for 94 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries. What's more, Bird racked up 48 rushing yards, the most he's had since back in August.

Fernley's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3. As for Churchill County, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Fernley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Churchill County, they will venture away from home to challenge Virgin Valley at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Carson Melendy and Drew Dixon.
