Basketball Recap: Nebraska Lutheran Starts off Right with Win over Meridian

Nebraska Lutheran gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 49-35 win over the Meridian Mustangs. The victory continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won eight in a row.

Nebraska Lutheran's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bob Papik led the charge by putting up 18 points and six boards. Those 18 points gave Papik a new career-high. Barrett Koontz was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nebraska Lutheran will take on Twin River at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Meridian, they and Dorchester will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played.
