Avondale extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping them down to 7-10-1. They lost 13-3 to the Mott Corsairs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Corsairs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 on Monday.
Avondale saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nathan Tacheny, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
As for Mott, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-10. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.4 runs over those games.
On Mott's side, Karter Starr made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, Starr posted five strikeouts, the most he's had over his last five contests. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
In other pitching news, Kody Ross looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had over his last five matchups.
Back at the plate, Brady Schrah was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Makulski, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Coming up, Avondale will take on Farmington at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mott will be paying especially close attention to the Yellowjackets' game: after the Yellowjackets face off against the Falcons, they'll take on Mott again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
