Football Game Preview: Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane vs. Academy for Classical Education Gryphons + How To Watch

After each having a week off, the Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane and the Academy for Classical Education Gryphons will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fitzgerald will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

If Fitzgerald beats Academy for Classical Education with 35 points on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Purple Hurricane strolled past Jeff Davis with points to spare last Friday, taking the game 35-21. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but the Purple Hurricane were the (much) better team in the second half.

It was another big night for Victor Copeland, who rushed for 208 yards and four touchdowns on only 11 carries. Those 208 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Academy for Classical Education was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap last Friday as they fell 27-21 to Washington County. The Gryphons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fitzgerald will have to contain Brayden Vincent as he made an impact in Academy for Classical Education's last game. He rushed for 116 yards and a pair of TDs on only 12 carries. Vincent got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 68 yards.

Fitzgerald's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Academy for Classical Education, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
