After both having extra time off, the Woodcreek Timberwolves and the Vista del Lago Eagles will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Woodcreek will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Woodcreek is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Christian Brothers 16-2 last Wednesday. The Timberwolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.
Maryn Macneil made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run and five RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Camryn Kelley, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Nicole Fonti was another key player, going 2-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Woodcreek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Christian Brothers only posted a batting average of .100.
The scorekeeper got an easy start last Wednesday as neither Vista del Lago nor Inderkum made it on the board until the seventh inning. The Eagles took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. The Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Vista del Lago saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Huber, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Woodcreek's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Vista del Lago, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
