Football Game Preview: Barrington Fillies/Broncos vs. Schaumburg Saxons + Official Tickets

Barrington has gone a perfect 10-0 against Schaumburg recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Fillies/Broncos will head out to challenge the Saxons at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Barrington has three straight wins, Schaumburg has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Barrington is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Illinois' top teams: Fremd, who was ranked 22nd at the time (Barrington was ranked 13th). The Fillies/Broncos took down the Vikings 23-7 on Friday.

Lamar Osterhues and Luke Tepas were among the main playmakers for Barrington as the former rushed for 112 yards and two scores and the latter rushed for 43 yards and one TD. Osterhues is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last three games he's played.

Another reason for the win was Barrington's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Charlie Ploder was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making seven total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Schaumburg lost to Conant at home by a 43-28 margin on Friday. While the Saxons didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cougars 14-6 in the first quarter.

Barrington's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Schaumburg, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Everything came up roses for Barrington against Schaumburg in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 42-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Fillies/Broncos since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
