Football Game Preview: La Vernia Bears vs. Floresville Tigers/Jaguars + Official Tickets

The La Vernia Bears will head out to face off against the Floresville Tigers/Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (La Vernia has six straight victories, Floresville has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

La Vernia had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 41-point drubbing they dealt Jones on Friday. The Bears really took it to the Trojans for the full four quarters, racking up a 55-14 win. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-7.

TY CARTER produced another solid performance rushing for 249 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.8 yards per carry. Those 249 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was COOPER NULL, who rushed for 31 yards and three scores.

Meanwhile, Floresville came up short against Calhoun on Friday and fell 37-28.

La Vernia's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Floresville, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Everything came up roses for La Vernia against Floresville when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 66-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
