Volleyball Recap: Ava Byrd Key Part of Team Effort in Trojans Win

Chase won the last time they faced Shelby and things went their way on Monday too. The Trojans blew past the Golden Lions 3-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.

Chase was especially dominant in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-16, 25-18.

Chase got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ava Byrd out in front who had 13 digs and two aces. That's the most aces Byrd has posted over her last four games. MyleeKaye Fincher was another key player, getting five digs and three aces.

They weren't the only good server: Chase was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in nine consecutive matches.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-12. As for Shelby, they dropped their record down to 2-14 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Chase wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against R-S Central on the 23rd. As for Shelby, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Highland Tech on the 23rd.
