Volleyball Recap: Northport's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Wednesday

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Northport couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They lost 3-0 to the Oakesdale Nighthawks on Wednesday. The Mustangs' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Northport took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-13, 25-14.

Despite the defeat, Northport saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kate Beardslee had ten kills, four digs, and three blocks. Beardslee is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last 24 games she's played dating back to last season.

Northport's loss dropped their record down to 18-6. As for Oakesdale, they pushed their record up to 24-3 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home.

Northport didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Naselle on the 12th. As for Oakesdale, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Wilbur-Creston-Keller on the 12th.
