Softball Recap: San Leandro Has No Trouble Against Glendale

San Leandro got themselves on the board against Glendale on Wednesday, but Glendale never followed suit. They blew past the Glendale Cardinals 12-0. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won five matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Malia Bromstead made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Bromstead was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, San Leandro let Yumiuz Cobbs and Camryn Gilbert run wild. Cobbs went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Gilbert went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The dominant performance gave Cobbs a new career-high in stolen bases. Isabella Orozco also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

San Leandro was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .361 or higher in three consecutive contests.

San Leandro's record is now 6-1. As for Glendale, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

San Leandro didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-1 win against Fairfax on the 13th. Glendale will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Tempe at 4:00 p.m. on March 24th. Glendale has given up an average of 13 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
